Nursery Practitioner

As our nursery continues to expand, we are looking for qualified, enthusiastic Early Years Practitioners to join our team. 


We have 2 positions available: 

  • Part Time Early Years Practitioner (Nursery) - Hours can be negotiated.

  • Part Time Early Years Practitioner (Out Of School Care) Term Time-Monday-Friday 0730-0900 1430-1800 / 25hours 



Job Summary

To care for children to a high standard, to follow the Pre-Birth to Three Framework, Curriculum for Excellence in the Early Years, Realising the Ambition and to undertake duties allocated by Room Senior. 



Main Duties- Nursery 

  • Following the centre’s Aims and Objectives. 

  • Caring for babies and children. 

  • Ensuring Policies and Procedures are adhered to. 

  • Working as part of a team. 

  • Undertaking such duties as allocated by Room Senior. 

  • Observing children at play and input to Learning Journals 

  • Setting/clearing up of playrooms. 

  • Following programme activities 

  • Preparation of snack 

  • Clearing up of kitchen area 

  • Ensuring safety of children. 

  • Taking children outdoors for play, walks, outings and trips. 

  • Reporting any faults/damage to equipment to supervisor. 

  • Welcoming parents/carers. 

  • Settling in children. 

  • Changing babies/children 

  • Feeding babies. 

  • Weaning babies. 

  • Toilet Training 

  • Giving input to programme planning. 

  • Completion of forms. 

  • Alternating equipment as per rotas. 

  • Art and craft 

  • Music and singing. 

  • Storytelling 

  • Attending and contributing to monthly staff meetings. 

  • Following the cleaning rota 



Main Duties - Out of School Care 

  • Following the centre’s Aims and Objectives. 

  • Ensuring Policies and Procedures are adhered to. 

  • Working as part of a team. 

  • Setting/clearing up of areas within centre 

  • Following programme activities 

  • Preparation of snack 

  • Clearing up of kitchen area 

  • Ensuring safety of children. 

  • Taking children outdoors for play, walks, outings and trips. 

  • Welcoming parents/carers. 

  • Settling in children. 

  • Giving input to programme planning. 

  • Completion of forms. 

  • Alternating equipment as per rotas. 

  • Art and craft 

  • Music 

  • Attending and contributing to monthly staff meetings. 

  • Following cleaning rota 

  • Collecting children from local school/ school bus 

  • Providing fun/stimulating activities for children aged 4-14. 



We ask that candidates hold a minimum Children and Young People SVQ Level 3 or HNC childcare and education.
