Due to continuing expansion of the nursery, we are recruiting qualified early years practitioners!
Purpose of the job:
To support the early education and care of young children within the context of the family and wider community.
To work on their own initiative and as a member of a team to support the development of a high quality, integrated early childhood service for children and families.
About Us:
Kool Kidz nursery opened in June 2006 and has grown into a busy and well established private nursery. We offer high quality Childcare and Early Learning for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. We offer a caring, welcoming and stimulating environment, where children can thrive and learn through play. Through partnerships with parents we can work together ‘Giving your child a positive start in life.’
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To enable all children within the nursery to develop to their full potential by engaging them in and supporting them with their involvement in appropriate experiences and learning opportunities within the context of local and national curriculum guidance and care standards.
To support the creation of a warm, caring environment in which each child feels secure, respected and valued in her/his own right and which promotes equality of opportunity for all.
To prepare and maintain materials and equipment which are appropriate to the developmental needs of the children.
To have a key role with dedicated groups of children within the nursery setting.
To recognise and be sensitive to children who are potentially at risk and take appropriate action.
To work with other professionals in partnership e.g. social workers, health visitors etc., in accordance with the promotion of the best interests of the child.
To establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and families to support their child’s early learning
To observe and monitor the learning needs of each child and provide her/him with opportunities to develop skills and access experiences appropriate to her/his developmental needs.
To work with colleagues, children and parents in the planning, recording and reporting of each child’s progress.
To participate in staff development opportunities and training supporting continued professional development, personal reflection and review.
To participate in staff meetings and parents evenings in accordance with the exigencies of the service. Where this happens out with usual hours this will be agreed after negotiation and with due notice to all staff.
To comply with holiday closure arrangements in accordance with the exigencies of the service after negotiation and with due notice to all staff.
To ensure health and safety, security standards and procedures are maintained in accordance with the nurseries procedures e.g. fire drill etc.
Food handling and preparation of snack, lunches ect
Working within the indoor and outdoor environment all year round.
To comply with all COVID-19 and infection prevention related guidance, policy and practice to protect all children and families.
As required:
To act as a mentor to other colleagues within the nursery.
To support students, trainees and volunteers within the nursery.
To take a lead role in working with groups of staff to progress areas of development within the nursery.
To work directly with parents and families in supporting their child’s early learning.
All Staff:
Any other duties as may be considered appropriate for this post. The post holder may be required to perform duties in keeping with the role of an Early Years Practitioners, other than those identified in the job description for the post and according to the requirements of the management team. The particular responsibilities attached to posts may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level or responsibilities entailed.
Knowledge and Skills Essential Criteria:
HNC Child Care and Education, SVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Keen to pursue own professional/personal development
Clear understanding of early years curriculum good practice
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good planning and organisation skills
Personal qualities including – enthusiasm, commitment, approachability, reliability and understanding of the importance of confidentiality
Desired Criteria:
Experience of a variety of early years provision
Experience of team working
Experience of working with parents, families and the wider community
Personal qualities including – innovation and adaptability, keen to pursue career development pathways
Experience of working with children with additional support needs.

Salary: From £9.90 per hour
