Nursery Manager

East Dunbartonshire

We are looking to recruit an energetic, motivated and forward-thinking Nursery Manager to join our early learning team at one of our 10 fabulous settings.


You will be required to work as an enthusiastic, effective member of an early years team supporting, leading and motivating staff. You will be an innovative educator who will work in partnership with others to lead and develop the service. In addition, we require you to have significant managerial experience and will be committed to ongoing professional development. General Attends and contributes to monthly Managers Meetings. Undertakes any other duties within the scope of the post required. Maintains a flexible approach to the work of the nursery in response to the needs of children, families, and staff. Staff management and development. Leads and manages a team, motivating them with a shared sense of direction, pride and energy. Support the manager with recruitment and overall management of all childcare and other staff, including staff rotas and chairing staff meetings as appropriate. Liaises with Area Manager on HR-related issues. Monitors and self-evaluates the service to ensure effective learning and teaching and continuous improvement. Identifies staff training and development needs and ensures these needs are met. Plan, manage and implement one-to-one meetings and appraisals with Depute Manager and Team Leaders 



Operational Control 


Leads the developments of the service to the highest standard to always ensure the smooth running of the nursery. Ensures the required standard, ratios and conditions of registration are always maintained. Ensures that the nursery’s procedure on Child Protection is adhered to liaising with the Area Manager and local Social Services as required. Ensure that the whistleblowing policy is disseminated, understood and used if required. Ensures the highest standard of safety and security within the nursery. Establishes all appropriate emergency procedures. Responsible for health and safety issues within the nursery, always ensuring compliance with the company’s Health and Safety Policy and procedure. Operates the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene within the nursery. Works with the staff team to ensure food supplied is healthy and nutritious and caters for all dietary needs. Is responsible for the day-to-day management of the premises and services, liaising with Area Manager to ensure essential repairs and maintenance of the building are carried out. Curriculum development and good childcare practice Ensures that the planning and organisation of quality educational provision is carried out to meet the Pre- Birth to Three, Realising the Ambition and Curriculum for Excellence documents. To develop and implement initiatives that support children ensuring their individual needs are met within the group setting. Work in partnership with your team to deliver the Social Care Standards and educational programme to a high standard on an ongoing basis, taking into account any equality and diversity requirements. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the curriculum provided and identifies areas for development. Ensures that all individual records of children’s wellbeing and educational developmental progress are kept up to date. Ensures the implementation of IEP’s in conjunction with other services where required for any children with additional support needs. 



Parental involvement: managing relationships and sharing information 


Builds strong parent/carer relationships through day-to-day liaison with parents, resolving any issues or complaints as they arise. Encourage the involvement of parents/carers at all levels in the work of the nursery, including regular reviews of children’s progress. Delivers childcare in a way that meets parents’ needs and works in partnership with them providing high levels of customer care at all times. Liaison with outside agencies and other parties Develop links and a close working relationship with the local authority and ensure that the nursery receives all information and support available. Develops working relationships with sister nurseries and other childcare organisations to ensure that provision of care is as high quality and innovative as possible. Maintain strong and positive relationships with Care Inspectorate. Develop a good collaborative relationship with schools in the local area. Maintains strong positive relationships with the nursery’s neighbours, quickly resolving any difficulties that arise.

Salary: £30,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
